About us

Keeping your teeth healthy

Looking after your teeth is very important for three reasons:

  1. Appearance:
Having one or more missing teeth often causes social discomfort.
  2. Function:
Having one or more missing teeth means it is impossible to correctly chew solid food. Over time this leads to eliminating these foods from our diet, typically meat, i.e. the food with the highest complete protein content. This in turn leads to an unbalanced diet. In literature there are numerous cases reported of serious metabolic decompensation and the associated pathologies that are correlated to this often underestimated factor.
  3. Phonetics:
When there is serious tooth loss and the resulting bone atrophy, increasingly serious phonetic dysfunctions occur. Sentences and words are distorted by the phonetic apparatus which can even lead to very limited interpersonal and social relations.

The causes for tooth loss

The main causes for tooth loss are traumas, poor oral hygiene, smoking and eating harmful foods, in particular:

  1. Plaque:
To prevent excessive plaque build-up it is very important to follow all the maintenance phases as planned by the Clinic Staff, in particular: daily cleaning, planned dental hygiene check-ups, and professional cleaning. Following the oral hygiene plans is useful to prevent more serious damage in the long-term.
  2. Diet:
Eating sugar, carbohydrates, acid foods or drinks rapidly damages the tooth enamel, leaving the internal layer of the tooth naked and more subject to decay, which in the most serious cases means the dentist has to take the tooth out.
  3. Smoke:
Smoke is another risk factor that increases plaque, the main cause for infection and the resulting tooth loss.
  4. Alcohol:
Alcohol, medication and drugs are all risk factors related to dental decay.
So ensure you take all the necessary actions to eliminate or reduce the risk causes listed above in order to considerably reduce the risk of tooth loss. However if any lost teeth need replacing, there are now some very simple and well-tested solutions.

Let’s look at them together.

The Solution

Nowadays there are several ways to re-establish lost teeth:

bridge.jpg

Bridge:
If one or more teeth are lost, a bridge can be built between two healthy teeth. These teeth are thus irreversibly sacrificed. The new dental element (the crown) is inserted between the two teeth to fill the space of the missing teeth. This solution, called "non-conservative", in addition to irreversibly damaging the healthy teeth which act as pillars for the bridge, does not provide stability to the bone on which the new crown rests, which thus tends to taper more and more until the base of the crown is uncovered, thus compromising the appearance.

Mobile prosthesis:
To replace multiple teeth or even entire arches, it is possible to anchor the prosthesis on different anchorage systems. This is known as a mobile prosthesis with a ball attachment, or on a bar. These prosthetic solutions generally have lower costs compared to interventions with fixed prostheses, but high aesthetic and functional results are not always achieved, as in the case of fixed prostheses on implants.

Implant:
The insertion of a titanium "root", the implant, on which the prosthesis is then screwed, allows replacing both the single tooth and whole dental arches thus maintaining all the healthy residual teeth intact, unlike the bridge solution.
In addition, the bone the titanium root is screwed into is maintained over time and the aesthetic quality of the crown is also maintained over time.

What is an implant?

A bone-integrated implant is a surgical technique born over 40 years ago. This method involves the insertion of a titanium screw into the bone, called dental implant, and within a few weeks after the bone integration process, a natural process that welds the implant to the bone , the dental crown can be connected and joined to the implant.

To date, tens of millions of patients all over the world have chosen this solution which, thanks also to modern dental techniques, is quick, lasting and painless. There are numerous documented cases of patients with implants in the mouth even after 25 years.
Italy is a pioneering and cutting-edge country in this sector. The constant professional growth of the dentist, who every year attends specialised training courses, and the high level of production of Italian companies that produce implants allow us to guarantee patients optimal and long-lasting aesthetic and functional levels. The choice of the best implant-prosthetic solution is always managed by the Clinical Team which, based on the diagnosis of the individual patient, studies the best personalised "treatment plan", able to satisfy the patient's aesthetic, functional and economic expectations. The modern techniques of immediate loading or flapless surgery, minimally invasive surgical techniques, aided assisted by computer-assisted surgical programming, associated with customised sedative protocols, make the implant faster, safer and painless.
We will advise you on the best solution, placing all our professional and training experience at your service in order to meet your needs, evaluate any contraindications and define the most appropriate times for complete rehabilitation.

Aluminium Free Processing

The dental implant is a small screw made from Titanium (a biocompatible metal) with a high technological and productive content.
On the market there are different types of Titanium divided into degrees of material purity. Grades 1,2,3 and 4 are called "99.9% commercially pure titanium", from grade 5 to 23 we have Titanium alloys, which therefore contain other chemical elements among which; Aluminium, Iron, Vanadium.
It is widely documented in international literature how Aluminium is a non-biocompatible, neurotoxic element that appears to be involved in some serious diseases such as Alzheimer's.

While many companies employ Titanium alloys of grade 5 or 23 for the production of dental implants, Leader Medica uses, as a precaution, pure Titanium grade 4, therefore free from contaminants, such as Aluminium. Leader Medica also does not adopt any industrial process, for example in the process of surface roughening, with components based on Aluminium. For these reasons Leader Medica, on the international license, which will be delivered to you after the intervention, certifies the plant as Aluminium Free Processing.

The implant must remain in the mouth immersed in the bone and in contact with the bloodstream for several years. During this period there is a risk that the aluminium particles, present in the material or on the surface of non-aluminium Free implants, can pass from the implant to the blood flow and then to the brain.

Always make sure you use Aluminium Free Processing dental implants, (LOGO).
For all of its patients, this Dental Clinic uses certified medical protocols and last-generation Leader Medical implants, to ensure excellent and lasting results.
Our health begins with a healthy diet and correct oral hygiene.
A correct masticatory apparatus thus becomes essential to ensure a balanced diet.
